The Greatest Show on Earth

One day I opened a book and I was transported to a magical time.  A time of railroads, huge tents and one adorable elephant.  Since that day I have a special place in my heart for all things circus.  Carnee people, stale popcorn and the smell of dirt floors get me all sorts of excited.

When the circus came to town, it was a must!  I couldn't wait to experience the magic first hand.  Granted the circus didn't come by train, there wasn't a tragic love story to be apart of...but it was close enough.

They had a ringmaster AND they had one of these....
And I wasn't the only one obsessed.  As soon as Eden saw the elephant, it was over!  She wanted on that elephant  and nothing else would do... that is except a good old fashion circus face painting session
We got ourselves some seats near the front, but not too close cuz Clovi wanted to admire things from afar.  We got some popcorn and waiting for the show to start.  Ever was lovin' her face.  She wanted to show everyone how beautiful it was....
The start of the show was a big hit.  Scantily clad ladies doing a dance and TIGERS
Next were the tight rope walkers.  Brennen was a crack up.  He was VERY worried that they were going to fall.  He could hardly look. I was laughing my head off, especially when one of the acrobats pretended to fall...I think Brennen about had a heart attack.
The next couple of acts lost the children...sooo that fun chasing them up and down to get a drink, go to the bathroom or telling your child for the thousandth time that you didn't know when the elephant would come back
Luckily, intermission came soon and the boys and I RACED down to the floor so they could get their faces painted.  They had been waiting in line before the circus started but got turned away right before it was their turn.
You can't tell from this picture but this lady meant business.  Kids needed to be promptly placed on the seat once the previous one jumped off.  She would then GRAB their heads and tell them not to move and off to work she went.  Then lickity split, one minute later... WA LA!
The 2nd half was much less eventful and the kids were growing restless.  Eden cried every time a new show started and it wasn't the elephants.
not even the jumping dogs could console her.  Baby girl wanted her elephants.  After another exciting show of the trapeze artist swinging high in the air and watching Brennen cover his face in despair, we were about to call it a night when...
Elephants!  During their act I could just picture Marlena up there doing here thing and I was once again transported back into that magical time.
Even Eden didn't make a peep.  She was thoroughly involved in watching those giant beasts parade around doing tricks.  And when they curtsied at the end...baby girl about lost it!  She loves her some elephants.
Oh, the circus... even though you aren't as magically as it seems in a story book, you still now how to show a girl a good time!

Cuz...We're Awesome!

We love trips to Ogden cuz they mean we get some much needed cousin time.  Eden LOVES her cousins and always wants to be around them.  The second they all get to Pa's, it's in the big bed they gather to enjoy their favorite movies
We always love to adventure outside and below freezing temperatures is no reason NOT to swing
Marcia and I decided we were going to be AWESOME and give our kids a fun way to play outside... I give you "snow painting"
That's awesome as in... we are awesome moms not awesome as in this activity is awesome (even though it really was).
The kids had SO much fun squirted colored water on the white snow.  Marcia and I were geared up ready to join them but ended up spending all our time fill and re-filling the squirt bottle before we could make it outside. Eden and ever thought the melted snowman needed some color...
My dad decided that the kids needed a REAL snowman to color so he set out to make them one.
I think the thing I love about Ogden the most is the time Eden gets to spend with my dad.  He's an awesome Pa and Eden adores him.  I never had a grandpa going up and so I love watching him and how he loves doing stuff with the kids.  My dad is awesome!
Trying to figure out a way to play outside and get those couch potatoes away from the TV... Snow painting... it's awesome (and so are the mom's who do it)
