Halloween Prep & the Binkie Fairy

We have been SUPER busy around the Rose house. As soon as the birthday decorations come down the Halloween prep started.  I have NO Halloween decorations and it makes me very sad, cuz dare I say, Halloween is my favorite!  I don't know what it is about this holiday but I just love it.  It may be just another reason to celebrate but I'm ALL over it!

We went to my mom's and had plans to go pumpkin shopping but it was pouring rain and so we decided to decorate cookies instead.  It was a huge hit!

We rolled, pressed and had ourselves a right nice time! Grandma Lola even came to soak in the fun!

I think the kids had just as much fun making cookies as they would have painting pumpkins...plus they got to eat in the process...always a plus.
I think our cookies turned out great.  We are a crafty bunch, ya know...It must run in our blood (along with the cheesier face grin too!)
Most of all, I just like spending time with my family and showing Eden what it means to always be surrounded by love!

On a completely different side note,  we had a visitor come to our house last night.  I've been delaying her arrival because I just couldn't bear the fact of taking away something Eden LOVES...hence the reason I called the Binkie Fairy to come and do my dirty work.

We have been talking and prepping for the arrival of the Binkie Fairy for months now.  Originally, she was suppose to come on Eden's birthday but there was so much change happening (like a new room make over, the daycare lady was on vacation so she was being passed around from person to person for 2 weeks and I just plain couldn't muster up the courage to OK her visit). Every time we talked about it Eden would cry and say "No My Binkie!" or she would hide them. So then it became a game of hunting them all down before the Binkie Fairy came.  I would try and take her binkie away while she was sleeping, but in the morning she would wake up with one in her mouth.  To this day I have no idea where they were stashed, but eventually all were accounted for.

Last night Eden and I sat down and had another talk.  I told her tonight the Binkie Fairy was coming...she even helped me call her on the phone.  After a short conversation, the Binkie Fairy said she was head our way.  I tucked my little girl into bed and she asked again if her binkies were going "all gone"  I told her yes, but reminded her that if she was a brave girl the Binkie Fairy would leave a present.  She smiled and said OK and went to bed.

Somewhere late in the night our visitor arrived and in one swoop the binkies were gone, but she left a really cool present.
She even left a little note for my brave little girl.
When Eden woke up this morning, she asked for her binkie.  I told her that the Binkie Fairy came and the binkies were all gone.  She started to cry but then I told her "She left you a present..."  and with that Eden JUMPED (literally jumped) out of her bed and rushed to turn the light one.  When she saw her little present waiting for her she said "It's Wonderful, I love it!"  It was immediately opened and liberally applied EVERYWHERE, but she was happy and that was a relief.
Now that's she SO big we are going to give this no binkie a go!  We'll have to see how tonight goes.  Wish me luck!
